About Me

My name is Ali A. Akhtar, and I’ve been a full-time practicing lawyer in Austin and the surrounding areas since 1999. I’m presently with a firm in Austin that specializes in plaintiffs and personal injury work, the Robson Law Firm. Our firm handles cases of personal injury and financial loss, which involves negotiation and settlement of claims, litigation, and trial work against individuals, insurance carriers, companies, and other entities.

As you might guess from reading my articles, my primary focus and area of experience has been in doing trial and negotiation work on behalf of plaintiffs who have suffered personal injury, wrongful death, or financial loss through automobile accidents, medical malpractice, on-the-job incidents, consumer transactions, and employment disputes. I also counsel and represent clients in selecting, registering, and enforcing copyrights and trademarks, and in other small business litigation and transaction matters, such as contract disputes, debt collection, and other business matters.

If you need to consult an attorney for any personal injury case, or other general business issues, please either contact me through this website, or visit us at Robson Law Firm. Although based in Austin, I’ve always maintained a statewide practice, handling trial work and cases in the following cities: Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Arlington, Lewisville, Flower Mound, Waco, Temple, San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, Medina, Bandera, Corpus Christi, Manor, Lockhart, Elgin, Georgetown, Taylor, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Bryan, and east Texas (including Lufkin, Nacogdoches, and Mount Pleasant).

I love to write, and to help people with their legal issues. I welcome feedback and am always looking for ways to improve this site and better meet people’s legal and informational needs, so please don’t hesitate to let me know what’s on your mind!

I was born in Wausau, Wisconsin, and also grew up in Prestonsburg, Kentucky and Topeka, Kansas. From there, I attended and graduated from University of Miami (Coral Gables, Florida), with a major in Mathematics, and went on to University of Michigan Law School (Ann Arbor, Michigan). I’ve done internships in both Houston and Dallas, but ultimately settled in our state's capital, the beautiful city of Austin.

I have a lovely wife and two young sons, and enjoy playing tennis (let me know if you're interested in hitting a few!), watching college basketball (lifelong Kansas Jayhawks fan), writing, participating in interfaith activities as a delegate of Interfaith Action of Central Texas (IACT), and playing any kind of word game (e.g., Scrabble, Yahoo! Literati, Boggle, crossword puzzles, etc.).
